What language did they speak?

This guy's very convinced it's non-Celtic Indo-European. He knows what he's talking about regarding history, but I'm not a linguist so if he's full of shit on that front I probably wouldn't catch it.https://ageofarthur.substack.com/p/who-were-the-picts
Nobody knows. We have no surviving linguistic evidence of the Picts. They had no writing at all and there were no serious attempts by literate peoples to study them, more the opposite.

>>18282884I'm from the Outer Hebrides & doing DNA backtracking with myself & family, the only strong matches with archaic humans are from remains in Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijin & Luxembourg, almost no genetic link to Irish or British bog mummies. The old myths say that Hebrideans were driven there from Ireland by the modern Irish, and most of my family have green eyes, dark features, high cheekbones, narrow jaws and slanted eyes vs rectangle or potato headed Mainlanders. It's pretty obvious we come from different stock than the modern Scots.
>>18282884The attested place and personal names we have suggest Pictish was Brittonic, to my understanding.
