So some literally who e-celeb put up a video bashing Disney Adults, but he made an interesting argument about 15 minutes in that they qualify as a religious cult, spelling out the similarities between Disney and the Catholic Church.

Does Disney really qualify as a religion now?
>>
Some people are religiously adherent to driving a certain brand of car, that doesn't make Chevrolet a cult imho.

What the fuck is a Disney Adult?

No. The video is confusing religion with religious behavior. Just because people engage in religious behavior in connection with something, it doesn't make it a religion. Or if it does, then many other things are religions, like state institutions, militaries, even families, since they all engage in religious behavior. Religion means belief in a specific metaphysical system that involves the supernatural. So Disney fans don't qualify, unless they believe that Disney characters exist in a spiritual dimension or something like that. Having shared values, likes, and rituals doesn't make a group into a religion.

It's more like this: humans have a basic need for religious behavior like rituals and devotion. The Disney corporation also knows this and appeals to people's need for religious behavior in its marketing. Actually most corporations do it, just with lesser success. Also, since religion lost it's influence, people are turning to new things to fulfill those needs.

I remember watching this and finding it extremely confusing how polite the guy in red was to his mother and within two seconds was bashing his girlfriend (I think?) in the face

> Religion would imply belief in an afterlife
Jesusbrainworms.
> Marxism, National Socialism, Posadism, etc.
Also religions.

I think to answer this question we need to first ask ourselves what Disney's goals are as a company and what Disney Adult's goals are as special needs people
I don't think Disney wants to be a religion, even if a lot of people seem to think that they do. Religion requires some level of commitment or sacrifice as a way to prove devotion, for a company like Disney this would be a huge burden to put on its guests and audiences, Disney doesn't want to create friction between itself and its consumer base, they really just want your money. One could argue guests money is the sacrifice or commitment, but I don't think this is the case because Disney offers something in return for your money, you don't pay them to prove or show your commitment to them, you pay them for entertainment and their park experiences.
I also don't think Disney Adults consider Disney a religion either, I think most of them are aware that Disney just invests a lot into media and theme parks and that Walt himself was a Congregationalist

I was going to reply that "all these fuckers care about is the numbers on the spreadsheets", but then I remembered that Disney's stock value has been plummeting for the past decade and retards like Iger and Kennedy seem to face absolutely no consequence no matter how much they fuck up. Eisner was sacked over a couple ~$150 million films that underperformed by $50 million or so (box office bombs to be sure, but recoverable), meanwhile Iger presides over multiple billion-dollar losses (Bleeding Red, The Nigger Mermaid, Elio, Snow Brown, etc.) the active degeneration of the parks into human zoos, the complete implosion of the Star Wars IP, picking a fight with Governor DeSantis and losing (tax exempt status), and everyone just shrugs. He's also been caught lying to shareholders multiple times.

Fuck, maybe Critical Grifter is right that Communism has completely rotted the brains of Disney leadership and they've turned into a quasi-religious cult that's more concerned with peddling ideological poison than generating revenue.

There isn't a precise definition of it, so it can range from

>a person over the age of 18 who's a fan of Disney media

to

>a person over the age of 18 who goes to Disney parks regularly

to

>a person over the age of 18 who suffers from arrested emotional development and just happens to be a Disney fan

What a waste of time watching this video was.

This one I doubt. Takes a lot to walk around Disney land

Tbf I don't think anyone is counting
>a person over the age of 18 who's a fan of Disney media
as a Disney adult, probably more the bottom two. It'd be like saying anyone who likes any form of anime over the age of 18 is a weeb. I think compulsive spending/consooming on the Disney habit is a large part of what makes one a Disney adult. My aunt is one, they go to Disney yearly, their house is filled with Disney knickknacks, and she's always gushing about the latest blockbuster (and paying off credit cards with other credit cards...)
