Bombed out shell of the Khobar Towers in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, after it was destroyed by a terrorist truck bomb June 25, 1996. The apartment building was part of a housing complex assigned to Operation Southern Watch, a no fly zone operation in southern Iraq. It housed members of the US Air Force's 4404th Wing, primarily a deployed rescue and fighter squadron. A total of 19 Air Force servicemen were killed and 498 others injured. The bombing was blamed on Hezbollah al-Hejaz. A massive crater, 85 feet in diameter and 35 feet deep, was left where the truck bomb went off. Despite numerous warnings of an imminent terrorist attack, the Clinton Administration did not take them seriously or do anything to beef up security around the complex. The CIA also grossly underestimated the bomb-making capabilities of Saudi militants.

In June 2001, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia indicted 14 Saudi citizens for terrorism and conspiracy. A few weeks later, the Saudi government announced that it had 11 of the indicted persons in custody and that they were going to try them themselves instead of handing them over to the US. Riyadh has not publicly disclosed the outcome of the trial or the prisoners' eventual fates.

Newsflash: The CIA are morons and always have been
>>
those terrorists were probably tortured in a dark basement in Riyadh and beheaded. oh well, good. saved the American taxpayer a lot of money trying and imprisoning them.
>>
>>18284270
CIA are literally always wrong
>>
>>18284311
During the entire Cold War the FBI/CIA never once exposed a single Soviet spy ring unless one of them defected and revealed its existence.
>>
>>18284305
You think so? But the Saudis, all the way up to the royal family, assisted in 9/11. Weren't they secretly anti-US then while pretending to be our ally to our face?
>>
>>18284258
It's widely speculated that this was an Iranian-backed attack.
>>
>>18284294
They had absolutely no idea that Saddam was going to invade Kuwait, total surprise when it happened. 'Nuff said.
>>
>>18284323
Tbf it's borderline impossible to uncover a spy ring in a society that isn't strictly closed off and controlled like the USSR was. You'd have to pretty much undo every single civil liberty yankoids enjoy to be as effective at counter intelligence as the KGB was
>>
>>18284458
and that's why they're tards just like the socialist in the other thread who said glowies did the OKC bombing when it's more than likely that McVeigh was an Al Qaeda operative and it was a dry run for 9/11.
>>
>>18284458
The KGB was also a huge outfit compared to any US intelligence agency, they had a million members.
>>
>>18284294
They only seem that way because you're a retarded brown that thought they were some malevolent omnipotent force of nature like arabs view djinns, not just an institution prone to the weaknesses of any institution
>>
>>18284258
How many people were in the building when they did this?

>They only seem that way because you're a retarded brown that thought they were some malevolent omnipotent force of nature like arabs view djinns

wait isn't that how Russians also view them?
>>
>>18284531
I don't get it.
>>
>>18284323
the FBI are also amazingly terrible at solving crimes unless they get someone to start talking
>>
>>18284323
Also had to rage quit the law and turn on chests just to beat the Italian mafia(which still operates)
>>
>>18284475
Holy shit
>>
>>18284548
It took 80% of their budget to dismantle the Mafia at the expense of ignoring shitloads of other crime happening.
>>
>>18284545
This is true of most law enforcement. 99% of crimes get solved by someone running their mouth. The remaining 1% is the super sleuth or forensics wizards shit you see on TV.
