Plutarch attributes an anecdote to Gorgo in which a foreign woman notes:>You Spartan women are the only ones who rule their men." To which Gorgo replies>Yes, we are the only ones who give birth to men.Honestly, this is a goldmine for political commentators and feminists posing as historians or those dreaming of historical representation of le wimen and the implications of that highlights the strength and authority of Spartan women in ancient Spartan society?? Perhaps it's just Plutarch fan fiction? Or maybe this anecdote was actually a criticism of the Spartans for being sissies? If it's true, the list of men submissive to women isn't limited to Ceylonian and Germanic lands, but extends even to the Mediterranean.

>>18285227I even doubt Plutarch wrote this nonsense, but if it's true, it's fan fiction. In the case of the Celts, we have external evidence that they were matriarchal, but not in Greece. In fact, the Greeks bullied the Spartans as being lazy and matriarchal anyway.
>>18285227Fan fiction. Medbvlls keep their women in the kitchen
>>18285227Where did this come from? If it's a late translation done in the 20th century, it's probably fake.
>>18285233>>18285240Its real
Stay in the hearth, bitches. The reality is that its the boys who rule the men ;)
>>18285270Fuck off
>>18285285>she doesnt know
>>18285227The spartan men were such gay misogynists that women had to shave their heads to look like little boys on their wedding nights and their entire culture was based on helot slavery. Almost any culture was better for women than Sparta. This sounds like something invented by men (our dudes are the manliest)-actual woman
spartan women valued childbirth and contributing to their genos and state which fought for their existence, so they are nothing like modern feminists who are dead set on ending western civilization and ironically passing the torch to societies that value "women's rights" far less
>>18285233>everything I don't like must have been intended as satireI love how you instantly break from reality. Of course Plutarch believed it. And, by the way, the Spartans are a Doric people known for their strong women.
>>18285322Stop lying around
>>18285361No. They were ruled by women and they had rights
>>18285380modern feminists have less rights than spartan women since they do nothing to preserve them, modern feminists hate women's rights, for example when the pakistani rape gangs were raping white girls they did nothing as they didn't want to promote "islamophobia" and upset their muslim "allies"spartan women are absolutely not the same as modern feminists whatsoever, even if we ignore the 2500 year difference and the decadent degenerate effect of modern life, their reasoning is fundamentally different
