Post pics of the greatest Archeological finds of last 200 years
Nobody seems to care about this, but apparently the ruins of an ancient urban settlement have been sitting on the coast of Peru in plain sight the whole time. It's called Caral or Supe, and there are four or five villages of brick buildings sitting on little rivers near the sea. They grew cotton and corn and pulled fish out of the sea with nets. It's about as old as Old Kingdom Egypt, putting it in the oldest tier of settlements you could reasonably call a civilization. There's even some cool drama about who first academically described the place. It's fucking awesome and nobody cares.Oh, and they find a quipa.
Also since we have all seen gobeckli tepe pictures, this is a photo of a 'plaquette' or 'seal' that was found at the site.Pop historian Irving Finkel thinks it is an indication that they had some kind of written or at least symbolic language. He said that once we dig up evidence that they had writing, we will all say "Of course they did, they couldn't have pulled this off without some kind of written instructions"
