As a kid, watching the Bill Maher movie he finally talks to a cool, competent priest who's immune to all the usual accusations. He's not a grifter or a simpleton, or even a charismatic leader, just a guy in Catholic bureaucracy. He says he doesn't think a great flood happened 6000 years ago, but it's not about that. What it's about is left to interpretation, but he's the prototype of a real christian: someone who bettered himself through Christ and doesn't care that science contradicts old creation myths. You either want to be part of it, or you don't.
