Looks more like an opossum. Opossums of course are marsupials and unrelated to this, but they were isolated in south America from before the dinosaurs were extinct to just 2.7 million years ago thus they were unaffected by the vast biodiversity and changes taking place in Asia, Africa and north America and their form resembles early mammals. The Virginia opossum has become successful in north america, a rare example of a south American species migrating north, due to their flexible opportunist scavenging nocturnal omnivorous lifestyle, adaptations like a noxious scent gland to help it feign death and fast reproduction for an animal its size relative to placental mammals. Their overall physical form remains archaic.

Dinosaurs are cool, pterosaurs are cool, land crocs are cool, icthyosaurs, plesiosaurs and mosasaurs are cool, the toothed songbirds that were basically like tiny flying crocodiles were cool, and the mesozoic rats and possums were cool too.At the natural history museum in NYC right now they have a temporary exhibit about the end of cretaceous extinction and rise of the mammals that has a really awesome diorama of water's edge ecosystem in the modern day hell creek formation that has a triceratops ripping up a sapling with lots of other animals nearby to demonstrate the diversity of late cretaceous ecology. It is very cool, definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area. Note the mesozoic possum REEEEEEEing on the log. This is only like 1/3 of the diorama there's way more stuff, including a small birdlike dinosaur with a rat in its mouth, having just dug up a burrow.
