Between the 1920s and the 1980s, were there any Communist leaders in the West who definitely knew of how miserable Communism was abroad, but kept quiet about it out of intentional blindness?

>>18289796Pretty much all of them. If you get as far as being a communist leader you are a pathological liar.At best they convince themselves it's for the "revolution". Likely at some point they realized if they want to be in power they have to put their ideology on hiatus and maintain a de facto command hierarchy where disobedience means demotion or expulsion and opposition means death. It is possible they never cared about giving the proletariat any kind of representation in their organization to begin with.Though this could be said of anyone in power, regardless of their ideology.
