No, the war was a sectarian dispute. Britain wanted 2 things:
1. To abolish slavery in the colonies
2. To end westward expansion of the colonies (but still keep the colonies)

...and surprise surprise, the white KKKolonists opposed both of these so strongly and with such racist fervor that they actually went to war with their imperial benefactors over it
