I've read about this guy before. Him and Mithridates the Great were allied, and collectively their territory and armies were huge. They also intermarried a little and thus there may have been a short time where a single person had claim to both empires.

I can't recall, but I thought I read that Rome was able to bribe some of the feudal kings to turn, and the confederacy of the east started to collapse. This is squarely in the geopolitical world that "Jesus" arrives into (actually as Jason, of the Medean mysteries, but whatever).
