Calhoun was both JQA vp and Jackson's VP and he hated and undermined both of them.
there isn't any power to exercise as the VP. you can literally just do parliamentary procedures that the majority party can override and then cast tie breaker votes

they generally only ever show up if they have to break a tie. kamala holds the record for most tie breaking votes with 33, then Calhoun with 31 then Adams with 29 and then the next highest guy has 19. there are 12 guys with 0 and only 9 guys have more than 10. Like Truman, Garner and Wallace have 8 combined in 13 years under FDR.
