So Is Hell really forever? Can’t I just go to Heaven from Hell just by repenting and accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior in Hell?
>>
>>18379256
You can't prove that you believe in god in hell because in hell there's no poor people to help, no hungry people to feed, no orphans to take care of, no commandments to obey. You no longer have the opportunity to do rigtheousness, to resist temptations, to praise God while in your suffering, to do any good.

You had one chance and you blew it.
>>
>>18379256
No because men are appointed once to die and then be judged. In this life, we may be guilty of sin, but since we have not yet been judged for these before God (beyond any temporal punishments we may expereince) that judgement is not yet completed. It will only be made complete when we stand before God and each of us will receive our rewards. For those who lived in righteousness, their reward will be the Beatific Vision. For those who did wickedness, their reward is damnation. They cannot repent once sentenced. We have not yet now been sentenced, and with the grace of God, we have an opportunity to repent and be saved from God's wrath.

Isn't kinda retarded we only get ~75 years to be judged where we go for all eternity?

Like, you'd think god would give us more time on Earth to make sure we aren't complete fuck ups before sending us to Heaven
>>
>The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
>"Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.'
I mean, yeah. That's what it says. Whether being rich is justifiably punished with eternal torture is up to you, but jesus seems to think it is.

When someone pleases God and he takes an interest in them he makes sure they go through the proper testing and refinement to make sure they are righteous.
>>
>>18379315
It's not because he was rich, it was because he never helped the homeless man outside his mansion.
>>
>>18379378
That's still pretty harsh. I don't think Lazarus would have approved.
>>
>>18379422
You let a man experience the pain of hunger every day and be naked in the cold, when God allowed you to have an abundance of everything and could have fed him and clothe him with ease and you think the righteous indignation of God will not burn against you?
>>
>>18379256
You're not escaping my grasp, human
Say it and save yourself the trouble: "I aceppt Darkness, I believe in Hell".
>>
>But what if I repent when I'm in the minecraft lava?
>Is the minecraft lava really eternal?
>Why are humans only given a finite amount of time to avoid the minecraft lava?
OP, you need to stop falling into the christcuck trap of assuming the magical torture chamber is real and grow up. Christians on /his/ might want to play with their toys in the toybox forever but you're doing yourself no favors by engaging with their torture fantasies and asking them questions. That just allows them to do what christcucks do best, point at people and say "oh yeah well my sky daddy is gonna fuck you up when you're dead and no one can confirm that we're just making all this shit up!"
Are you afraid of Jahannam? Are you afraid of Buddhist hells? If the answer is no you shouldn't be afraid of the christian hell either. You do realize all these jagoffs can do is play pretend that you'll totally get what's coming to you pinky promise scouts honor it says so in their book.
>>
>>18379434
An eternity of hell just for that?
>>
>>18379530
God is more righteous than you think. He is the God who loves Justice. He has a very soft spot for the small, lowly, poor and the suffering.

Stop watching Hazbin Hotel and read the Bible. Read Romans in which St. Paul pretty much lays out the whole Bible. Read John 3-6 to understand Christ and Matthew 7,13,25 and Hebrews to understand Hell.

A better argument is that even this small gesture proves his soul is corrupted. However it follows that if someone's soul can be redeemed in life, surely it can be redeemed in the afterlife also. Why does god snap them up while they are still in a sinful state?

It is also extremely difficult to avoid sin. How much did you give to the homeless today? Why not open your doors and let anyone homeless sleep at your place tonight? There is a risk they may steal or molest your daughter, eventually you will go bankrupt and become homeless yourself, but if you are not maximally benevolent and self-sacrificial at all times, if you commit even the slightest sin you will spend eternity in excruciating agony alongside Hitler, Stalin and Mao.
>>
>>18380521
That is the whole point of the Christian faith. We can't redeem ourselves so God did it for us. Your sins are already paid for if you want so you can sin how much and whenever you want. That is where the Holy Spirit comes in. Your faith produces fruits and those fruits are love, hope and more faith. You will not want to sin anymore out of love for your neighbor and your God.
>>
>>18379315
The only way this makes any sense is if they are both in "hell". The term used is Hades, which is a very general term for the afterlife. Greek Hades was divided into places of torment AND eternal happiness. So, Lazarus and Abraham are in Hades too, just in the nice part, and the rich man is in the bad part.

Jesus was offering people to get to a third place by following him, that being the kingdom of God, which is supposed to be better than even the nice part of Hades. So I guess that before Jesus, you could only go to either good or bad hell, and presumably, you can still go to good hell if you are a good person, but you cannot go to heaven unless you accept Jesus.

> heaven
No Christian creed talks about "going to heaven". Instead we await the world to come:
Apostles' Creed:
> ...
> from there [heaven] he [Christ] will come to judge the living and the dead.
> ...
> the resurrection of the body,
> and life everlasting.

Nicene Creed:
> ...
> and [Christ] is seated at the right hand of the Father.
> He will come again in glory
> to judge the living and the dead
> and his kingdom will have no end.
> ...
> and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
> and the life of the world to come.

>if you commit even the slightest sin you will spend eternity in excruciating agony alongside Hitler, Stalin and Mao.
God is not evil or unfair. Justice bows down before him. There is a difference between committing a small sin here and there and letting a man starve everyday at your door while being filthy rich. The latter is just disgusting, a man who has no compassion for the suffering of the needy is cruel and evil and deserves to burn in hell.
>>
>>18380521
Can't forget this is one of the main reasons why God destroyed Sodom.

>“‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

God has already declares in his wisdom that there is no forgiveness after death.
>>
My meager understanding of it is this: we all deserve hell. It's not that by committing a seemingly trivial sin, your crime rises to the level of the worst dictators in the history of the world. Rather, hell is the baseline. We are all wretched. "Justice" IS that we go to hell. The only way out is through Jesus Christ, the personification and ultimate expression of God's grace.

Sheol aka Hades/Hell was originally just death, it only becomes an afterlife of punishment as the NT authors try to rewrite the OT.

Isaiah 66:24
>And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.

Their desecrated corpses being on display forever is the everlasting contempt mentioned in Daniel 12:2, but the gospel writers turned it into eternal torture.

Mark 9:47-48
>And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where ’the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’

Luke 16:24
>So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

Revelation 14:9-11
>A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”
>>
I''m sorry but I just don't hate myself enough to cosign to the belief that my mere existence warrants eternal torture.
>>
>>18380582
When you see the perfection of the angels of heaven you will realize how crooked you are, but by then it will be too late to have a change of heart. Then you will see the Most High.
>>
>>18380590
if angels are so perfect how come so many of them have fallen
>>
>>18380590
>>18380599
Yeah, do beings in Heaven still have free will?
>>
>>18380579
>the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched
Clearly, this means there is no hell. The exegetical skill of atheists continues to amaze
>>
>>18380606
>And they will go out and look on the DEAD BODIES of those who rebelled against me;
>>
>>18380617
Christians can't read a single fucking verse and talk about exegesis kek
>>
>>18380617
>it says bodies, which means it doesn’t mean it when it says they will burn forever
Matthew 10:28
>>
>>18379294
>Isn't it kinda retarded that we only get 75 years to be judged
>Only 75 years

Yeah, man, you only get a lifetime to decide if you don't wanna be a sinful piece of shit, how unfair of god to give you consequences for a lifetime of sin.
>>
>>18380660
They do burn forever but they're corpses not zombies
>>
>>18380599
So that the rigtheousness of the ones who have not fallen gets exalted.
>>
>>18380688
that's a why not a how
>>
>>18380683
You’re a corpse right now. What’s the difference?
>>
>>18380708
They still have free will. Most of the fallen angels fell because they fell in love with women, not because of wickeness.
>>
>>18380726
You’re melting right now. What’s the difference?
>>
I think that God created Earth to excuse the torture He wanted to give you. First He tortures you on Earth, but that’s ok because you can go to heaven later. You’re just like a toy to Him.
His idea is that you won’t even complain about everything that you put up with on Earth once you see heaven. Heaven is His scapegoat to torture people on Earth.
>>
>>18380836
God was like: torturing evil people in hell isn’t fun anymore. I’m a psycho and I’m going to create an in between place called Earth where I can torture innocent people without consequences, because that’s more fun. I put them in heaven afterwards and I suffer no consequences that way.

I would go further and say that God is capable of whispering in your ears and giving you suggestions of bad things to do so that He can excuse the torture He wants to inflict on you later on. Maybe He can even puppeteer you when you’re a kid to achieve this goal. He makes you do certain things as a kid with the objective of you accepting your punishment without contest.
>>
>>18380836
That's because you're projecting yourself onto God. God is being that doesn't sleep. Knows everything. Exists in the future and in the present. Does not eat or drink. Does not worry. ETC.

You're projecting human understanding onto something incomprehensible by the mortal mind.

Blasphemy

Everything that happens, happens for a reason. And all the reasons are His.
>>

It does not follow that creatures are puppets or that He is the author of sin.
>>
>>18381096
It does follow but you do not wish to see it so you close your eyes. Such arrogance, to believe that anything occurs without the express wishes of the Most High.
>>
>>18381108
I believe you are being willfully intellectually dishonest
>>
>>18381175
You think you can behave in a way that surprises God? That he is powerless to stop you?

Wow, you must be a god yourself. Or the god you worship is not omnipotent.
