>two of the world's most deadliest wars occurred in less than 20 years 100 years agoExplain
In the early 1800s, Napoleon dismantled the Holy Roman Empire, leaving Continental Europe in a state of directionless malaise as Germans made multiple attempts to unify their nation as poverty everywhere was quickly mounting. Europe for much of the 19th century was just a white version of the Middle East, just constant infighting with Anglos pulling strings behind the scenes. The First and Second World Wars are just this coming to a head.
it's interesting i once had a professor who once told me that it's unhelpful to think of the world wars as separate. i mean they were obviously, but they existed so close together and all the havoc in between (russian revolution, russian civil war, chinese civil war, spanish civil war, great depression, communist uprisings in Germany) are all so interconnected that differentiating them is splitting hairs. better to think of it all as one geopolitical reshuffling that has steeped us in decline ever since.
>>18381079It's really amazing that men restrained themselves as much as they have since developing industrial weapons of war. If you gave ancient generals a few tanks or an attack helicopter, they'd depopulate the world's nations in less than a month.
