In classical Theism God is immaterial, therefore has no body, therefore is neither male nor female. Humans, however, are naturally male & female, (Intersex people don't disprove this) so it makes sense to view God as a Father in order to be able to relate to him. Of course, that means God could alternatively be considered a Mother instead.
