The 60s looked like THIS?

60s japan was a shithole

Ignore the balding, aging millennials claiming the 90s were the best decade ever, the 60s were the actual best time to be alive.
Communism was at it's height so 1/3rd of the world were straight up workers' utopias but even in the crapitalist bloc life was great.
It was also the last time where humanity looked like it could break free with decolonization movements in the third world, the civil rights movement, May 68 and the counterculture.
For a moment it really looked like the forces of reaction were going to be defeated for good.

'60s music was pretty good

Reminder that the Golden Age of Capitalism was underpinned by applying Keynesian principles, heavy state intervention in the economy and steep taxation on the rich.
Sounds pretty Communist, doesn't it?

The means of production were not state-owned so no, it doesn't sound Communist at all

Great photo.
Yeah, this was before all the woke shit

Plenty of industries were nationalized.
If chuds were transported back to the 60s or even their beloved 50s they'd call it Communism.

America with its private enterprise system was 40% of the world's GDP during that time. And idk who you think the "chuds" are, but it's mostly lolberts who get their panties in a twist over state intervention in the economy. I would love the internet and ISPs to be nationalized for example so that no leftist will ever feel safe speaking online.

>rightoid cheers for the surveillance state and loss of privacy
Why am I not surprised.
>>
>>18388694
Not in ordinary times, no.
>>
>>18388685
I think that what we really need is a kind of parallel economic state wholly separate from the regulatory state. In such as system, the economic state collects taxes and operates nationalized industries, but has no authority whatsoever to apply criminal penalties on the people, and no data held by the economic state would be discoverable in the criminal proceedings of the regulatory state.

You say that and then you'll cry when the police arrest you for "hate speech" (criticizing the Israeli army)

I unironically think the world would be better off if the internet itself simply never existed to be honest
>but anon, aren't you using the internet to say this?
yes, because the internet has trapped everyone in an endless loop of triviality and mundanity, and the only escape from this hell would be for everyone all at once to touch grass
>>
>>18388753
Crazy how Boomers were right, before they got trapped in it themselves.
All that phone and Internet does rot your mind. We really never should've believed anything we read online.
>>
>>18388753
>>18388879
This, but boomers were already trapped by television. Radio and cinema were also bad. Any medium which 1. Provides low-effort stimulation and 2. Makes the world feel smaller has been an enormous disaster and has permanently wrecked the human psyche far worse than lead exposure ever could

No other period has ever and (I fear) will ever match the youthful optimism of the 60s.
Living in a world where unemployment was non-existent, where it really looked like poverty would be eradicated for good and where so many people came together to resist oppressive structures of all kinds is literally unthikable today.
Can you even imagine something like Woodstock, where hundreds of people came together and lived in peace and harmony for 3 days, happening in 2026?
Impossible.
>>
>>18388653
>Sounds pretty Communist, doesn't it?
uh no, considering communism is the abolition of private property.
People claiming specifically capitalist practices and institutions like welfare, taxation, etc., and attributing them to communism/ socialism will never not make my blood boil.
Though then again, I suppose I shouldn't be shocked at the communist desire to steal things that don't belong to them.

those "oppressive structures" and their strict PTSD daddy created the idyllic crime-free high-trust WASP white picket fence communities boomers took for granted

their removal and the boomers' decades long experiment created the decaying society we see today and all of it was very easily and completely avoidable and unnecessary
>>
>>18390306
>No other period has ever and (I fear) will ever match the youthful optimism of the 60s.
Very telling that it was also a highly destructive period for society. The vast majority of the general public despised counter-culture btw and in general it was a time of extremely low morale, it took their generational replacement decades later for the boomers to rewrite the narrative and present it as a good time. Disgusting.

The 60s saw countless urban riots, any one of which topped the death and mayhem of all of 2020s summer of love. Violent street crime climbed to record levels and it was the golden age of serial killers. People lived under constant existential dread of nuclear annihilation. Every year young men waited for a lottery where a random draw could send your ass to Vietnam.
The biggest myth is that everyone was tripping and fucking in the mud at Woodstock. The average college student had slightly longish hair and enjoyed current year pop music but was studying engineering, hoping his draft number didn’t come up and wanted to emulate the same square lifestyle as mom and dad. Our cultural memory of “the 60s” comes from the 70s when the drugs and degeneracy tricked down from bohemians and rich kids to the unwashed masses.
