No other period has ever and (I fear) will ever match the youthful optimism of the 60s.Living in a world where unemployment was non-existent, where it really looked like poverty would be eradicated for good and where so many people came together to resist oppressive structures of all kinds is literally unthikable today.Can you even imagine something like Woodstock, where hundreds of people came together and lived in peace and harmony for 3 days, happening in 2026?Impossible.

Our cultural memory of “the 60s” comes from the 70s when the drugs and degeneracy tricked down from bohemians and rich kids to the unwashed masses.
