VD is notoriously hard to pin down because he has been known to duck and weave. He is highly intelligent and has been through the legal system before - almost since birth in fact, because his dad went to prison.
A good example of VD's duck and weave has been his moon landing "skepticism". He rarely offers alternate theories. It is enough, for him, to Doubt. And if you patiently explain why the Doubt is unfounded, he'll simply call you a "Moonie" and, for himself, claim he is only asking questions. He doesn't want the answers; he doesn't care about the answers, and you can't make him care. Whatcha gonna do, "cancel" him? He's too rich and he doesn't even live in the US anymore.
So to circle back to >>18389402, in VD we are dealing with a dishonest troll and as a result, anything he says is to be held in severe suspicion. It is unlikely that, if you can nail VD to the wall (I think his moon comments are nailable), VD will admit fault.
