Although I'm not a Muslim, Ali should’ve definitely been the first caliph. And I’ll say this: Shias have the better aesthetics, it’s honestly on par with Catholicism/High-church Christianity in terms of beauty. Sunnoid art all looks very abstract/futuristic, not very beautiful. Allowing some room for the depiction of people/prophets other than Muhammad was a good thing artistically.
