Is India poor because Britishers colonized it?
>>
>>18402764
colonization paired with incompetency after decolonization.
>>
>>18402764
Not really, that's a modern Indian nationalist cope. Before British colonisation Indian society and economy hadn't changed all that much since the middle ages. The British improved and managed things in India once they took over, but in a way built around British economic goals rather than Indian goals (because that's how colonialism works). The Indians then struggled to manage the economic systems they inherited after their independence, to the point where they're only starting (and still struggling) to build an economy today.

Let Edmund Burke answer you:

"Were we to be driven out of India this day,
nothing would remain, to tell that it had been possessed, during the inglorious
period of our dominion, by anything better than the ouran-outang or the tiger"

Are Nepal and Bhutan poor because they weren't colonised?
>>
>>18402859
Superpower by 2020, right?
>>
>>18402764
British colonization of India was more about wealth and resource extraction and a civilization building project. They brought nothing to India other than railways and government structures.

But we do have to acknowledge India's retarded actions offer independence (like the creation of Pakistan and eventual Bangladesh) which just led to massive riots and overall instability.

Isn't this guy the same guy who wrote City Of Quartz? I'm sort of wary of reading his shit.

India would be poorer if they didn’t

Yes, but this is Company India. The Raj was much more of a conventional imperial project, which left plenty of monuments.

It has been nearly 80 years since they were granted independence, yet their economy was stagnant until they liberalized in the 90s, even so they are struggling to develop due to massive corruption and low national IQ.

honestly britain should just apologize and make amends for colonizing india if that means britain can still be a british country in the next 50 years
>>
>>18405721
I was told liberals are the bad guys and conservatives are good.
Why should liberalization be good?
>>
>>18405830
There's liberalisation, and liberalisation. One kind leads to economic freedom and wealth. The other kind leads to omnipresent witch-hunts and stagnation. Make sure that you're only doing liberalisation (within reason) instead of liberalisation.
>>
>>18402764
Losers always bitch and moan and blame others for their situation, nothing new, these fucking losers will be trying to get dollars from us until civilization ends. Laugh in their pathetic low IQ faces and move on.
>>
>>18402859
How does it feel knowing 500 white dudes enslaved over 500 million Indians? Lmao!!
>>
>>18405824
honestly britain should just apologize for not eradicating the shit that makes india a shithole
