Revelation was written by some random Greek guy.

>Believed by historians to be the last book written in the Bible
>The author claims his name is John but historians note that his writing style is completely different from Apostle John, I believe his name was not even John but he just made it up to seem more credible
>Author claims he was exiled to Patmos, Greece, and that he is only writing the document in Greece because he was kicked out of Israel (bullshit story)
>The author mentions Hades in the text, which is from Greek religion, not Judaism, the Jews had no concept of Hades
>Of course the doc was written in Greek too but that was normal since Greece and Rome were the two big countries everyone had to put up with in those days, like the America and China of those days
Lol.

If that's true then why is it so damn fucking Jewish?

The Book of Revelation is widely misunderstood.
>Judea was occupied by Rome during the advent of Christianity in the 1st century.
>Those Jews who resisted Roman rule were killed while those who gave in where spared.
>Slaves were marked on the hands and condemned men were marked on the head by Roman authorities - which is where the idea of the "Mark of the Beast (Nero)" comes from.

Nero is the Beast (Satan) of Revelation.
>When you actually look at the original text, you'll see that in this passage, the letters of 666 are actually written in Hebrew, which places a higher significance on numbers meaning words and words meaning numbers than ancient Greek. The writer was very clearly trying to tell us something.
>And sure enough, if you translate the Hebrew spelling of 666, you actually spell out Neron Kesar - the Hebrew spelling of Nero Caesar.
>Even if you take the alternative spelling of the number of the beast, which has been found in several early Biblical texts as being written 616, you can translate that out as being Nero Cesar.
It could only be a coincidence if just 666 or 616 could be translated out to Nero's name, but not both.

John went to Patmos on his own accord to take copious amounts of psychedelic drugs and document his visions. The Book of Revelation might very well be the earliest piece of Psychonaut Literature on Earth

That's at least closer to the historical truth than OP. One can't say Revelation wasn't written by John when it is directly referenced and accredited to him multiple times throughout the Bible, as a known prophecy by him.
>>
>>18403205
The Book of Revelation isn't referenced anywhere else in the NT, stop lying.
>>
>DUDE REVELATION IS ALL IN THE PAST BRO IT'S LITERALLY A METAPHOR FOR HOW CHRISTIANS WERE TREATED IN THE FIRST CENTURY AD AND A CODED MESSAGE AIMED SPECIFICALLY AT PEOPLE WHO LIVED BACK THEN AND NO ONE ELSE

>DUDE REVELATION IS LITERALLY JUST A GUY TRIPPING BALLS BRO DUDE WEED LMAO

>DUDE REVELATION IS LITERALLY A PROPHECY OF THE FUTURE AND THE REASON IT'S SO BIZARRE IS BECAUSE IT'S A FIRST CENTURY MAN TRYING TO GRASP AND DESCRIBE FUTURE TECHNOLOGY LIKE ICBMS AND DRONES
I'm getting tired of these we need a new hip Revelation interpretation™
>>

John's prophecy of Revelation is directly referenced in Matthew at minimum three times.
>>
>>18403332
No it isn't. Post verses.
>>
>>18403331
The historic interpretation of Revelation is not new at all though. It's two hundred years.
>>
>>18403379
You're kidding, right? All you have to do is read it. I don't need to post examples of what I know for a fact are there, because I myself read it over yesterday. Or do you mean to simply tell me you cannot read?
>>
>>18403482
You seem to have misread, which is why you posted this after you went back, tried to find the verse, and couldnt.
It should be pretty easy to narrow down what you were reading yesterday unless you were speed reading the entirety of Matthew in one night, which actually probably explains why you invented these references.

Its more zoroastrian

My favorite part is the armies of locust men wearing chainmail that have insect bodies and human faces.

Lots of books have apocalyptic and psychedelic imagery like the Book of Daniel with the whole cryptic numbers thing, so that kind of thing isn't unique to John. John didn't go to Patmos do to drugs, he went there because God told him to do so.
In short, John of Patmos wrote the Book of Revelation completely sober.

Daniel was high on lion piss

What is this? Second grade?
>Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 'Do you see all these things?' he asked. 'Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.'
>Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
>But Jesus said to him, 'You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.'
I believe you also forget the plenty of times they directly call John by either Elijiah (God is with me) or prophet
>>
>>18403524
Uhhh John the Baptist is not the Apostle John nor the John who wrote Revelation. I don't get how you think those quotations reference the book called Revelation.
>>
>>18403504
Elaborate.
>>
>>18403482
You can't list ONE verse because none exist to back up your lie.
>>
>>18403534
It's really shameful how few Christians actually take the time to study the book they pretend to base their entire lives around
>>
>>18403732
They wouldn’t be Christians if they read it inquisitively or studied its historiography.

I don't know why people still insist that John of Patmos is the same as John the Disciple. I don't think anywhere in the Bible itself is this even implied, two people can have the same name. It's pretty much the consensus amongst Biblical scholars that they were two different people. It just seems like such a weird hill to die on. The reason the early Church considered Revelation to be Canon should be obvious, it's because it provides an ending to the Biblical narrative and makes it a complete story, it begins with the creation of the Earth and humanity with Genesis, and ends with the apocalypse and rapture. It was a nice and convenient way to end the Biblical anthology.
>>
>>18403871
From a traditional and religious point of view it just makes more sense for the last human christians universally believe to have prophetic visions to be an apostle and not just some fucking guy.
>, it's because it provides an ending to the Biblical narrative and makes it a complete story,
If you are not Christian, sure. But believers didn't believe their holy scripture was compiled because of the story potential. Of course now there are Christian bible scholars but before philology and textual criticism that was the most reasonable idea.
>>
>>18403761
I read it inquisitively and studied it's historiography and I'm Christian.

>>18403874
Prophecies by random dudes were common in early Christian communities, nobody even bothered to write them down.

>>18403331
It's all three. It's a dude tripping balls in present thinking he is writing about the past but in fact also describing the future.
>>
>>18403931
>I read it inquisitively and studied it's historiography and I'm Christian.
Clearly you haven't studied it hard enough then
