It warps normies view of history and thus every description of slavery has to be automatically compared to it like some oppression equivalent power scaling, if slavery isn't as bad as the TAST it's automatically treated as humane and even better than modern day wage labor, anything worse is basically treated as the ultimate gotcha to the slaver class, that you were worse than southern planters and are basically the devil themselves. You can't even have a fictional setting with slavery without people automatically thinking you are referencing American style plantation slavery. Atleast the Holocaust doesn't hog up the concept of genocide, you can talk about the Armenian, herero and Tutsi genocide without having to reference the Holocaust.

Pretty stupid question, the one thing was a specific thing that happened and the other is just a generic term. And therefore it seems like that it wasn't really thought through, since when we just use generic terms we could easily say that war is and was the worst crime in history. But I looked into it a little bit and it seems like that the transatlantic slave trade was meant by it, for one it has something to do with reparations, that the African states want (which will only make the countries worse, but that is another story) and on the other hand they justify it through saying that it was racist, which is partially true, but has nothing to do with the modern racism e.g. resilient farmers and to be honest the African states would need to pay reparations to the black communities that live inside of the Americas as well, since they were the ones selling them and profiting from the trade, it isn't that they said that the colonialism of Africa was the worst crime, but the slave trade, in which they made a lot of money, how ironic that they want reparations and to think that no one wants to speak out about it only because they are black and therefore they are the oppressed, just makes me disappointed, since it could be a very funny situation.
