How did China, a failed state, became a power house while the rest of the third world couldn't do the same? Ideology? Chinese culture? Foreign aid?

>a failed state
China has never been a "failed state" for long, it quite literally has a history of state structures longer than anywhere else on Earth.
If anything the country is returning to its historical mean, assisted by the U.S completely, totally squandering the post-Cold War victory by literally handing them their entire industrial capacity while also dwelling on extremely retarded conflicts in the Middle East.

Communism works.
>>
I'm pretty sure it is just tribalism and clannish mentalities that keeps nations from succeeding. China never had that.
>>
>>18407771
Open a history book chief. Chinese history is a never-ending gangbang of tribal and clan animosities, feuds, and grudges.
>>
>>18407766
In what particular way? Considering China is barely communist anymore and either former Soviet bloc countries either abandoned the model altogether or shifted towards capitalism under a Marxist-Leninist framework i wouldn't necessarily call that "working". And most so-called communists in the west say working communism has never been tried, so communism remains theoretical. It might have worked in the past, but it no longer does.

See this is the difference between election democracy and 5000 years old civilization. The west measure and plan by 5 years election cycle, while China for centuries

The entire western world was dumping a fucktonne of money and relocating their entire production output there due to muh cheap labour. The Chinese used that economic boost well, stole a shittonne of know-how from their western partners and used authoritarian measures to keep that development fairly guided and under control.
That's really like 90% of what there is to it. The west grew them into a dystopian superpower and largely didn't even notice until it was too late.

I've literally said that they did a very good job at achieving as much gain and progress as they could from their situation in last decades, but whatever man. To think that western capital, as well as industrial and scientific espionage did not play a very major role in their development is simply misguided. But yes, China did show a lot of competence in first securing those and then investing the gains well and extending their sphere of influence very considerably.
>As if the west wouldn't have just conquered China if they could
Weird thing to say in this context and I'm really not sure what specific western country you have in mind that would be realistically interested in such a prospect post-WW2 (and especially post fall of USSR) Although depending on the era, US would probably install a puppet government if it could, I'll give you that.

Indeed and in many (most?) cases it wasn't even espionage, Wall Street straight up GAVE the Chinese the tech and practices. The Chinese for example love Buick cars (the styling just right with them) but the Chinese government would only allow imports of the cars with massive tariffs added on, so GM just went and built an _entire Buick production system_ and handed it to the Chinese for a cut of the profits, everything from the foundry all the way to the finish production line.
