You underestimate the european-ness behind the culture that sparked the formation of Huns and Mongols.
The Tocharians are of this same eastern horselord substrate that did look very european compared to later mongols.
There is no reason to doubt that the most "conservative" huns and mongols had more scythian traits than their own hapa brothers and family. Huldins sons Octar and Rugila probably had Rugii-wielbark mothers, like Attila (Atli) also did.
So not only did the Huns probably had varying degrees of scytho-european features depending on their degree of horselord conservatism, but the leadership within the Huns upon arriving in europe also took Wielbark concubines, probably because this was the most horse-focused tribe they could find that also had intel on the continent they just invaded.
