If we had two people one named Andrew and the other named James and we had two universes and in universe #1 we had Andrew be born and raised in Britain and became a software engineer and James be born and raised in America and become a security guard and then in universe #2 we switched these people's bodies so that a person with the body and genes of universe #1 Andrew was born in America and became a security guard and also be named James instead of Andrew and in this universe #2 the same happened with James from universe #1 being born and raised in Britain and becomes a software engineer and also be named Andrew instead of James when we compare these two universes it's more intuitive to say that the person named Andrew in universe #1 is the same person as the person named James in universe #2 since they both share the same body and genes and the same vice versa. It doesn't matter nearly as much that they have different names, are from different countries and have chose different jobs, what matters the most is that Andrew from universe #1 and James from universe #2 have the same body. Seeing as their differences in name, country of origin and job choice are minuscule in comparison to the deep similarity they share in their genetic makeup so much so that they would be considered essentially biological clones of each other. Therefore genes are the most important factor that determines a person's identity.

Counterargument:
If Andrew and James were identical twins, would that make them both the same person?

Not ever the same person. But closer to one another as any other example that can be proposed by OP's case.

I agree there is a genetic component to forming someone's identity that I cannot put my finger on it. I suppose if there really is a matrix, memories stored in genes can be tapped into regardless of where you are.

Something like that who knows. Im terrible at delving into topics.

Fat kids, you need to read all the way down to the bottom of the wikipedia pages, or else you sound like a fucking idiot pseud blowhard to everyone who does, okay?
Nothing you have said here have anything to do with identity. A hypothetical word salad about two different cars that were built in different places, except one is a "corolla" and the other is a "fiesta" would support the same tautology.
Or you could make up a gibberish word, slide it into this diabetes-stankin' spume in place of "identity" and it would make exactly as much sense as it does now.

No, also there are only four periods and three commas in your entire post. Use more next time.

Identity is predominately influenced by environment, including social environment. If I was born as a hunter gatherer I would be a vastly different person. If I was born into a hyper religious modern family I would be a vastly different person. Genetics determine a lot but are not the most important factor in identity and personality.
