Soulfags believe that the brain is just a receiver for signals sent by the soul. If someone gets a brain injury, they get the right signals coming in but those get scrambled by the damaged brain.
On this view, you'd expect a brain damaged person to be consciously aware of the unscrambled soul signal rather than the content scrambled by the receiver. However, it's the other way around. The soul that is supposed to be the seat of consciousness is precisely what we are not consciously aware of. The brain damaged retard isn't having some weird locked-in syndrome style experience where he's coming up with smart sentences to say, trying to vocalize them but instead saying some completely different dumb shit.
