It's ok to say you don't understand the Trinity and just keep praising God and participate on the Sacraments. You don't need to perfectly rationalize all aspects of your faith. It's ok to say "I don't know".
>>18412354>It's ok to say that you understand the Trinity as you praise God and participate on the Sacraments. You can rationalize your faith. It's ok to say "I know".
>>18412417You can't understand the Trinity. Any attempt at explaining it gets labelled heressy and the first schism in Christian history happened because of the Trinity. "I understand the Trinity" is sinful hubris. Be more humble.
>>18412417You don't understand the trinity. Any christian that gets pressed on it will fall into heresy
The Trinity is like water, ice and steam.>NOOOOO IT CAN'T ACTUALLY MAKE ANY SENSE STOP MAKING IT MAKE SENSE OLD PEOPLE IN SOME COUNCILS DECIDED IT CAN'T MAKE SENSE!!!
>>18412354You may not like the answer, but the Trinity is very easy to understand.
>>18412421THE FACT THAT YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND IT DOES NOT ENTAIL THAT THAT IS THE CASE FOR EVERYONE.
>>18412433Explain the nonsense away then without appealing to variant forms of logic
>>18412440DIVINITY: DIVINE SUBSTANCE.GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT: THREE CONSUBSTANTIAL PERSONS.THE THREE PERSONS CONSTITUTE ONE ENTITY, BECAUSE THEY SHARE THE SAME SUBSTANCE.IT IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT.
>>18412451What do you mean by substance? If it's just another word for nature then you have a problem. Human nature is shared between humans, therefore 3 people in a room are actually one entity. Is that what you believe too? If it's just what God is, then what is the difference in substance between the Father and the Son? They must have 100% of the substance but at the same time they are not each other, so where is the difference between them that causes a distinction?
>>18412451Why do you always type in all caps? Do you do it outside 4chan too?
>>18412460> 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18That is actually correct. The presence of God manifests in mutual gatherings and unites people in one "body".> Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. 1 Corinthians 12The Trinity is the highest revelation about God's unity without any loss of distinction of the individual persons.
>>18412460SUBSTANCE: WHAT IS IN ITSELF.ESSENCE: WHAT THE ENTITY IS.NATURE: WHAT AN ENTITY DOES IN VIRTUE OF WHAT IT IS.PERSON: WHO THE ENTITY IS.
>>18412509As I understand it the first verses are talking about agreement being facilitated by the Father, as in multiple people believing in the same thing due to the Father uniting them and not him changing the reality of the number of humans present. It also mentions clearly that they have to gather under one name too. A room full of idolaters with different beliefs is still a room of multiple human beings even with this bizarre understanding. But I mean if you believe 3 people in a room can be 1 human being under any circumstance then polytheism becomes impossible anyway. Someone worshiping the individual members of the ancient Greek pantheon can also be said to worship divinity as a single being in a sense>unity without any loss of distinction of the individual personsI don't understand why you have to take it literally. Why is this not just talking about people who have a common purpose to believe in Christ and all that.
>>18412530It's not reducing the individual people in the room, but Christ is the "glue" that unites them all together.Maybe a better example is a modern corporation. Walmart is a distinct entity, but it really made up of a bunch of different individuals participating in the singular corporation. There are plenty of different beliefs and positions within the individuals, but Walmart is the "glue" organizing them all.> Why is this not just talking about people who have a common purpose to believe in Christ and all that.It is, but in Christianity theology there is almost always supposed to be a higher aspect than just a simple community of believers.
>>18412420>You can't>You don't
