Why did classicism replace futurism as the aesthetic of fascism?
>>18412626The tl;dr is that Fascism got popular, so Normies invaded the Fascist safe space.
>>18412626>f-f-futurism is kino!!!Romans would be disgusted at the mere concept behind "Futurism".To answer your question, the National Socialists helped promote the superior Classical aesthetic as compared to inferior gross futuristic "aesthetic". The former is timeless whereas the latter is just a trend, and it shows.
>>18412897Futurism was cool you faggot.
>>18412626Fascism failed in the West, that's why. The Western fascist looks back to antiquity not simply as a celebration of past successes, but moreso as a capitulation, an admission that he has no future. Contrast this with the de facto fascist China of today.
>>18412950Only if you're under the age of 18 lmao
>>18412994Don't look now, but classicism is on the rise in China now as well.
>>18412994This happened in the Soviet Union as well. At first it was "communism in 20 years" then it became endlessly jerking off to the memory of the "great patriotic war"
>>18412897why would i care what a bunch of race mixed mutts from 2000 years ago did? 60%+ of their states existence was spent in "Collapse" mode
>>18412626>Why did classicism replace futurism as the aesthetic of fascism?I think part of it is that once the fascists got into power, power also changed them, and classicism worked better for a power once it's established because it's about symmetry and order. Stalinist architecture also borrowed from classicism. I read futurism initially as being deliberately provocative for its own sake. Futurism was also fascinated by machines and technology, and they would identify with speed and war. Funny example of a group playing with totalitarian ideology and music/art (in this case pop music, algorithmic amplification and AI slop) as a spectacle:https://youtu.be/lUm6zahJgP0
>>184126261: Fascism started wanting to present itself as a RETVRN to a nobler time, mostly due to >>184126372: Hitler was an autistic and desperately unskilled artist who was happier with classicist art because he thought it made his movement look 'proper' (see above)3: Italy kind of kept it going, but generally didn't have as large an impact on peoples perception of Fascism (because it was ultimately a side-show on its best day)
>>18412626Futurism was too kino.
>>18413216>At first it was "communism in 20 years" then it became endlessly jerking off to the memory of the "great patriotic war"Because by 1965 the Soviet government had become gerontocracy.
>>18413297>1: Fascism started wanting to present itself as a RETVRN to a nobler timeNah, that's the conservatives who keep on invading Fascist spaces. Fascism started out presenting itself as a cutting edge Third Way alternative to Communism and Capitalism, ideologically descending from Communist reformist movements that eventually figured the Revolution was a bit long in the coming.
>>18413297>Hitler was an autisticthats the main reason, he just couldnt bear progress>i oppose the current thing
>>18412626Hitler labeled such art degenerate. Fascism was actually a very modernist movement prior to the Nazis making it about German race science nonsense
>>18412637>>18413297>>18413362Wouldn't it be more accurate to portray it as compromising with conservatism as fascists most often got into power easier than communists (the term: revolutionary envy comes to mind).
>>18412626because futurism is ugly modern crap. While fascism is revolutionary, it also accepted the timelessness of certain things like aesthetics that cannot be willed but must be in harmony with man and nature
>>18413490>but must be in harmony with man and natureWtf does that even mean.
Class more like ass lol
the problem is no one knows what fascism actually is, trad fags think being trad is fascist, when the original fascists wanted to burn everything to the ground and build a new order, not return to the past. futurism fits in with that type of philosophy
>>18413479I think this is accurate. The NSDAP formed a coalition with the conservative DNVP in 1931. While Mussolini formed a coalition with Liberals and Conservatives in 1921.
>>18412994>futurism is when neon lights on buildingswow...Las Vegas is the most futurist city on Earth...
>>18413006Says the 15 year old.
>>18412626Futurism lacked mass appeal and the Germans stripped fascism of its aristocratic temperament.
>>18413552> burn everything to the ground and build a new order, not return to the past. futurism fits in with that type of philosophythe only poster ITT who may have actually read the futurist manifesto, good jobeveryone else give it a read it's short and enjoyable
