US quickly repulsed them. The szoviet armed were always weak as fuck.

Weren't they scraping the barrel even in 1945m

It could go any way
Soviet supply lines were getting dangerously long and the german army of 1945 could still inflict severe casualties on the soviets

The US had the advantage in aerial and naval superiority, plus an intact industrial base and a monopoly on nuclear weapons. The Soviets had already taken apocalyptic loses during Barbarossa, most of their lands in the West were destroyed due to the fighting, they were on the cusp of famine and were pressed to rapidly demobilize (which did happen between 1946-1947) and were reliant on Allied Lend-Lease to fight Germany. They might have the advantage initially due to the surprise factor and their numbers, but they would've quickly been beaten back, by the West, by guerrillas (Like the Polish Home Army, Forest Brothers, OUN) and by imminent famine.

If the Soviets attacked first the allies would be remain committed and capable of victory or at least some Korean War like stalemate.

Air superiority would be achieved almost immediately, followed by a strategic bombing campaign that shreds Soviet logistics and army formations. Once a major city gets nuked the Soviets would probably sue for peace.

However if the allies attacked first, that could be a different story.

Then MacArthur finally would have the justification to enact the modified, atomically supported version of Operation Unthinkable.

The good timeline where the Soviet Union was vaporized before infiltrating every single western institution.
