How did Alexander the Great conquer this?
>>

Lots of Greek sandals on the ground

I reckon he just had that dawg in him.

Back before modern nation states, most countries or empires were really a collection of various cities and petty kingdoms that only loosely obeyed a far-away monarch, who delegated the actual running of these territories to local aristocracies or governors.

When a foreign conqueror invaded and conquered a kingdom, he often only had to fight the opposing king's forces, upon which the local aristocracies would pledge their alligeance to him, so little would actually change in the day to day running of said provinces.
>>
>all those scrumptious afghan dancing boys
it would've taken the combined might of every contemporaneous empire to stop him 2bh
>>
Killing the emperor probably caused the empire government to collapse and the economic strain of losing all that rich land before that helps too
>>
Why does everybody rn act like Iran is some sort of unassailable fortress? Mcfucking everyone within & outside of that region conquered that place repetitively. Westroons like Alexander, Arab Desertniggers, Chinky-eyed mfers like Turkics & Mongols, even Slave-Soldiers all ran a train over Iran.
>>
He didn't. He conquered Mesopotamia and Babylonia instead, which was the real core of the Empire.
>>
Well he was a capable leader for one. Ahem.
>>
insatiable lust for bagoasussy

He spent most of the years between his trip to Egypt and invasion of India besieging fortresses and cities spread around various satrapies, so it was about I forgot 10 years of campaigning. The empire was functionally destroyed at that point iirc. no large battle was recorded in that period. Just difficult siege after difficult siege.
>>
>>18416197
he sent goats as brides to the local mountain men and claimed victory while those were busy with their marital duties

And people underestimate how slow news can travel until relatively recently. There's a (possibly apocryphal) story of a troop of horse riding into a village halfway through the English Civil War and asking the nearest stout yeoman if they were for King or Parliament.
"Oh, have those two fallen out then?"
It's also a like when /x gets a bit frothy at the mouth about "the big alien cover up". Ok, cool, so this afternoon all the news networks cover the arrival of the Galactic Confederation. Tomorrow I'm still going to work to pay the mortgage (or, for our ancient Persian farmer, tend the crops).

Most of the actual Greek vs Persia battle happened in this plain. So if you want to win you need to lure and destroy their leadership there
>>
Perhaps he was heir to the soul that belonged there. Something imitators shouldn't attempt.

Boybutts...
>>
>>18416197
he just claimed victory every other day until they died of cringe
>>
>>18416591
Oh pshaw, you just dont like his hammy theatrics.
>>
>>18416197
The God of Israel was with him.
>>
>>18416244
Yeah except Alexander literally fought numerous battles through various city states in Persia modern Iran and fought using counter guerrilla tactics with his elite Agema Hypaspists.
>>
>>18417399
Israel liked Persia because Cyrus the Great saved them from Babylon
>>
>>18416197
Are you asking for a friend?
>>
>>18417399
Which one? The original Israel, the replacement, or the new Israel?
>>
Persia/Iran's been invaded and conquered a million times.
>>
>>18417399
He worshipped Zeus not Yahweh you idiot.
