There is no evidence supporting this whatsoever. This is a falsehood invented by a man, Joseph Franklin Rutherford, in 1931. Initially, for their first 50 years, the Bible Students (now Jehovah's Witnesses) used the cross as a religious symbol. They only changed this interpretation during the 1930s because their cult leader wanted to do so.
