I've seen a lot of suspicious posts here lately...
Will you denounce the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and the perfidious state of Utah?

If you can do that, tell me... What's the big deal with these guys?
Do millions of people really believe ancient Jews took a boat to the Americas left some Gold Plates in upstate New York and that caffeine is a sinful drink???

I'm sure that they believe a bunch of nonsense like every religion, but saying "society sucks" and then actually going and building your own society with no blackjack and hookers is pretty admirable.
>>
>>18418015
More like moronism.
>>
Yes I denounce the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith Jr, but not Utah. It's a nice state with a good hockey team unfortunately a lot of Mormons live there.

t. ex-Mormon (raised in it) from the Republic of Alberta

>Do millions of people really believe ancient Jews took a boat to the Americas left some Gold Plates in upstate New York and that caffeine is a sinful drink???
I had a friend from Latam who grew up Mormon. He had no idea how wacky their believes were until many years later after his family dropped the Mormon act for reasons I don't even remember. I don't think Mormons are well aware of the retarded theology they follow. It's like the South Park ep, Mormonism help them build strong families and communities and that's enough to them. Of course they're heretics, but God will already judge them (and me, and everyone else).

>brown catholics mad about white mormons
lol

>being white excuses being in a cult with terrible theology a 6th grader could poke holes in
>>

The vast majority of Mormons today know that the religion is bullshit, they just stay for cultural and familial reasons. And the Mormon Church itself has hundreds of billions of dollars, so the people at the top have an interest in keeping the scam going. That's why they always choose some nonagenarian corpse to be the church president.

Mormonism is unironically the stupidest fucking religion ever preached.

Even Scientology at least has the decency to drape itself in at least one layer of mystery cult to hide away its bonkers shenanigans; and Islam has at least the violence to justify its doubters fearing to apostasize; the Mormons blatantly and proudly display their ignorance of Scripture, their untenable understanding of the structure and eschatology of the world and their blind faith in the obvious scam of the wicked Joseph Smith.
>>
My attitude towards Mormonism is the same as Matt Stone and Trey Parker's, Mormons are crazy, but at the same time it's also extremely interesting that we basically have a white version of Islam that claimed an entire US state as their own personal little Theocracy
>>
In America you are not required to make sense, or be even remotely coherent. Thus you have all sorts of quirky shit going on.

>What's the big deal with these guys?
Well they believe, like some other people do, a very divergent version of Christianity. They're kind of like an ethnicity of their own.
>Do millions of people really believe ancient Jews took a boat to the Americas left some Gold Plates in upstate New York
Nominally yes. But like with all other religions this varies from person to person, group to group. Basically all religions come bundled with incredibly silly stuff you have to accept (even if in practice most lay people don't). I don't actually think it's any more silly than what the established religions get away with just because they're old and huge; meaning their beliefs are grandfathered into modern society.
>caffeine is a sinful drink???
First of all, Caffeine isn't a drink; Coffee and tea are banned but iirc they (and by this I mean the big church) believe caffeine the compound is not by itself forbidden. But of course the different forms of LDS may disagree with eachother.

Islam does not have a race, per se (neither does mormonism, technically). And Mormonism is only superficially similar to Islam, at best. Utah isn't really much of a theocracy, the U.S government spent much effort specifically to ensure that. It was a recurring theme of post Civil War pre-WW1 U.S politics iirc.
>>18419424
You actually aren't required to make sense anywhere in the world to start a religion. Whatever 'making sense' even is.

>It's not the caffeine in coffee and tea that is bad, ACKSHUALLY we just got a new revelation saying caffeine in pop/soda and energy drinks is A-OK
>the original ban was on "hot drinks"
>but not hot chocolate or peppermint tea, because reasons
This is what they talk about when they say it doesn't make sense
>>
>>18418015
>Do millions of people really believe ancient Jews took a boat to the Americas left some Gold Plates in upstate New York
This is really not any more crazy than what the other Abrahamic religions think happened historically
>>
>>18418822
>Mormonism is when you hate shitskins
They regularly convert mexicans.
>>
>>18419612
Yeah it's weird and contradictory. But it's not against caffeine.
>>
>>18418015
Fuck White Islam and their stupid convenient "revelations" like how God revealed that polygamy was no longer necessary because Utah wanted statehood and that was a federal condition, and how God revealed that black people could all of a sudden become priests towards the end of the Civil Rights Movement
>>
>>18418822
it must be embarrassing that most people would rather put up with white mormons than brown catholics
>>
>>18418015
>Do millions of people really believe ancient Jews took a boat to the Americas left some Gold Plates in upstate New York and that caffeine is a sinful drink???
Yes. Also caffeine is not considered taboo but we refrain from tea and coffee. I choose to abstain from caffeine, and many others do too even though it isn't explicitly required
>>
>>18420697
Well technically speaking the black thing was only instaurated during the 1850s to bring the church more in line with mainstream protestants in the U.S. Of course the other churches don't call their nonsense divine revelation and just quietly move along. I guess this is braver.
>>
>>18420947
Do you drink "hot drinks"? That's against the Word of Wisdom. Even the pioneers violated this rule, boiling local plants to make herbal tea, which SHOULD be VERBOTEN.

At least Mormons can have bacon...

>>18420699
>people are racist and will ignore your insane religion
Wow great point in favor of Mormonism, which was an explicitly racist religion until 1978, but did a 180 and now blacks are people. Neat how the 100% true restored religion can turn on a dime over 100 years later to match CURRENT_POLITICAL_THING.
>>
>>18418822
Mormons recruit browns
>>
>>18420971
>
I hate to be the one to break this to you but no one really care about their neighbors religion - and your confused rage over that fact should be better directed towards the brown catholics gleefully flaying faces south of the border
>>
>>18420983
Yeah if they are sacrificing and raping children as part of their rituals, who cares as long as they are white passing...
