After the Red Army lost in their initial attack on Warsaw, they mostly relegated crushing the Uprising to a secondary Police operation and those forces didn't have enough power to just kill everyone in Warsaw, so after the first days they made a lot temporary truces where the civilians could leave the city (Germans planned to expel most of the civilians anyway to prepare the city for defence against Red Army)
