Why did the Germans become Nazis?
Desperation. Their society collapsed after WWI and the great depression. The Weimar Republic was a complete breakdown of society.

The nazis had talking points that were appealing and seemed somewhat reasonable in the context of the time. And they promised a big improvement in every way. It was a sort of messianic movement, you could say. Early weimar was tumultuous, middle weimar was all around ok. Late weimar was economically distraught and had no political way to deal with it, but was socially stable. The biggest source of breakdown of order were in fact the nazis and their political violence themselves.
