TIL that Mormon apologists account for anachronistic references to horses in the Book of Mormon by reasoning that they were actually tapirs.

Why not Alpacas or Llamas? They could argue that these were bread for speed similar to how thoroughbred horses were bred for speed from what were originally slower pack animals and that the faster breeds of these were simply lost over the years as they become more domesticated as pack and farm animals instead. It would make way more sense than Tapir
