Would Christ hate us for engaging in pagan idolatry on the anniversary of his death and resurrection?
>>18421101Thanks, now I want to celebrate Easter every Sunday :)
>>18421101>Would Christ hate usNo
>>18421101He would probably hate you for being a filthy goy.
>>18421286But it would make Jesus jealous wishing it was his testicles
The giving of eggs as gifts on Easter is traditional because during Lent eating eggs was forbidden as part of the fast. It's not a pagan tradition, it's Christian.Protties simply don't know this.
>>18421444>ProttiesSwedes and Finns literally have a tradition, where they go around dressed as witches and offering protective wards to drive away evil spirits and demons between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It's just hardcore nutty evangelicals, who think any type of activity, that's not just about reading the Bible in repentance is sin and will send you straight to Hell. In historical truth, many faithful around the protestant world viewed themselves as good Christians, who went to Church, believed in the teachings of the Bible and that Jesus is the Lord, but still practiced folk magic, communed with spirits, and many pagan gods and spirits even became Christian saints or began protecting Churches and other holy places. We know that many of the prosecuted "witches", who practiced magic, did so by invoking Jesus and God. In other words, their magic was absolutely Christian and Holy in nature. The same goes for many traditions that nutcases nowadays deem as non-Christian or pagan, or "Satanic". They're traditions and beliefs held and developed by good Christians, but who were judged by people whose own subjective opinion differed from them. The truth is, Biblethumpers of all churches have always made really subjective rules on what's correct and what isn't for Christians, and they love espousing their views on this, even if at the end of the day it's merely subjective.
>>18422834Witch trials as a cultural phenomenon arose mostly due to the rise of protestantism and secular courts attempting to use texts like the Malleus to rule on spiritual matters now that they had established state churches. Now, it seems to me at first glance that the scale of this problem was far less and happened later than what occured in central Europe. This could be due to lower population density, or other factors I'm not aware of.But the fact remains they were virtually unknown beforehand. Accusations of magic were treated as defamation.
>>18422834>dude I’m summoning a demon to give me riches but like I’m using the name of God to enslave him to my will, it’s not even heretical You might as well say tranny bishops are correct because they sincerely believe in Christ. Literally what’s the point of any of this facade of a religion?
>>18421101He'd probably be confused about why all the eggs are filled with creme.
>>18423056>>dude I’m summoning a demon to give me riches but like I’m using the name of God to enslave him to my will, it’s not even hereticalYes, that is absolutely possible and consistent in Christian belief systems. There were more spirits than just demons and angels. There were elves, spirits of the undead, and so forth, and communing with these spirits, alongside angels, were seen as possible. However, folk beliefs about contracts with demons were absolutely seen in a negative light. Demons would only be summoned in curses to harm others, or to give "unfair advantage". Other evil spirits besides demons could also be invoked to do this as well, though obviously these kinds of things were viewed very negatively, even if these evil spirits don't serve Satan. And if I may add, there's nothing more Christian than controlling a demon with the help of Christ. It tells us about the power of God, the weakness of demons, and how faith in Christ rewards us.
I feel like a lot of christians (almost entirely evangelicals and similar protestants) have this issue where they think that just because a pagan did something, that means it's a pagan thing. This leads to absolutely fucking ridiculous retardation like>NOOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T HAVE A BIRTHDAY, PAGANS HAD BIRTHDAYS, THAT MEANS BIRTHDAYS ARE PAGAN!
