Because humans can't agree on anything

Christians agree Jesus Christ was the Son of God and that he was crucified and rose from the dead

Experience, and thus life, is objective? No, its subjective, thus there's a billion ways to think and understand, so basically, religions that are based on books and doctrines are understood different by each person. To put it into perspective, there's a billion Christians? Then there's one billion Christian religions. That is the problem with holy book religions.
As you may understand, the absence of feedback tends to color the mind with imagined feedback from coincidence, pareidolia, synchronicity, etc

How many religions are fully united in belief? Jainism, Sikhism, and Bahai maybe? Though they could be very divided and I could just be ignorant regarding that division. But most religions as a whole are extremely divided. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. The more people there are in a religion (any group at all for that matter), the more likely some people will have disagreements and their own views.
