he didn't go far enough

This, the fact there are still tribal reservations around is a travesty.

Grant got railed so hard he became president.
Overshadowed in faggotry. Overshadowed in fame by lee and importance by Gettysburg and the East Coast.
Truly, the first zogbot

You lost, Cletus.

His eldest son Thomas Ewing Sherman was a Jesuit priest. That and the fact that he was a baptized but non-practicing Roman Catholic caused the Protestant history writers in New England to seethe internally whenever he was mentioned.

>>18426563
Having Sherman become the first Catholic President of the United States would have been too controversial for the time.

Redditors only like him because he killed White people. They entirely ignore the fact that he also genocided every injun he could and thought blacks were dumb apes, with members of his family owning slaves. He was only interested in the Union. Not anything else.
>>
>>18426583
sounds based to me
>>
>>18426590
He was but not for the reasons Redditors love him
>>
>>18426583
>Redditors only like him because he killed White people
and you probably love hitler despite him killing orders of magnitudes more whites

>>18426609
intent, one is an artist and the other an autist. And you can't refute that
>>
>>18426627
intent doesn't matter, all that matters is the result. it's why winners get to write the history books.

I hate both Sherman and Hitler

They named a tank and the biggest tree in the world after him. Who cares about lists.

>"Dear General Sheridan, I will back you with my whole authority. I will say nothing and do nothing to restrain our troops from doing what they deem proper on the spot and will allow no mere vage general charges of cruelty and inhumanity to tie their hands, but will use all the powers confided to me to the end that these Indians, the enemy of our race and our civilization, shall not again be able to carry out their barbarous warfare."
-William Tecumseh Sherman

He was based.

He was literally addicted to interracial pornography and unleashed his colored troops on Confederate women while he watched.

Man what a strange fetish you have. How did you develop this fantasy mindset of yours?
>>
>>18426583
>also genocided every injun he could
Nope, there were never any "native génocide", despite the turkish projection of the actual genocides they attempted to do.
>members of his family owning slaves.
No, the acts of Sherman's relatives are the acts of his relatives, not Sherman himself.
You got nothing accurate to say.
>>
>>18427186
I think what he said is bs but I also read somewhere that his wife got turned on by stories of Southerners being killed or something
>>
>>18427157
Sherman was one of the most lenient towards the south to the point where Congress shot down his proposed terms with Johnston for being too soft. Do people just get their information on the civil war from memes or something?
>>
>>18427783
He wasn't motivated by rabid racial hatred of Southerners (or really just white people in general) like Sumner or Stevens were but he did genuinely relish attacking civilians, which he and his bummers were better at than actually fighting anyway. Southerners never really hated Lincoln (though they would have if they knew he approved of targeting civilians) but there is a reason all of their ire was generally focused on Sherman and Sheridan. Their actions ruined a lot of lives and contributed to the civilian death toll of 50,000, and they enjoyed every second of it.

in my city there is a colossal gilded statue of him :)

Sherman treated Southern territories the same manner that Germans and Soviets would treat each other, or the way MacArthur treated Manila. Treating a literal brother war as if it was a bitter blood feud is unforgivable.
>>
>>18427812
Sherman was an old idiot soldier without a single original thought, easily manipulated by men more wicked and clever than himself. At no point did he have anything going on in his head other than "for da yoonyun." He never took one moment to consider an argument for or against secession, he was just a mad dog set loose.
>>
>>18427837
Secession has no defense and the South in particular has no moral or philosophical ground to stand upon. Sherman did the right thing by bringing annihilation to the Southern war machine.
>>
>>18428071
>Secession has no defense
The Union is not sacred nor is the Constitution a blood pact. That's not to say the South should have surprise-pikachu'd when the Union went to war or that fighting to preserve the Union is inherently unjustified, but it also doesn't mean that secession is inherently unjustified or that if the South had their way a great evil would have triumphed. It would mean that Americans were now split under 2 polities instead of 1 - certainly undesirable but also a consequence of a red line being met.
>the South in particular has no moral or philosophical ground to stand upon
They have ground to stand upon - they're Americans of the same blood as the North. It's really that simple. You don't bring annihilation to a brother war.

Most people just imagine things they like and then convince themselves that their imagination is reality.
