Would it be accurate to say that most history before c. 800 BC is blurry and just about everything from before c. 2500 BC is made up or the dates are way off especially those given by some Christians and Ethiopians placing dates in between 4000 BC and 9000 BC for events that occurred before 2000 BC?
>>18426557Whoops. I meant to say >for events that occurred after 2000 BC
I’m not well informed at all, but I found it interesting how both Greeks and Jews recognize a heroic and mythological age around 1200 BC or not too long before, then somewhat of a gap, with continuous history resuming in 1000-900 BC
>>18426557>Ancient Warfareare these worth getting?
>>18426602I don't understand
>>18426886For ancient Greek history; their timeline goes something like this:Golden age (c. 2200 BC to c. 1700 BC)Silver age (c. 1700 BC to c. 1200 BC)Heroic age (c. 1200 BC to c. 800 BC)For the Jews it goes something like:Primeaval times (c. 5000 BC to c. 2000 BC)Age of the patriarchs (c. 2000 BC to c. 1300 BC)Exodus (c. 1300 BC)I think. Am I wrong?
>>18428832Sounds pretty accurate to me
>>18426886Didn't the Egyptians have more or less the same thing? Albeit with slightly different dates
>>18428894Much of ancient Egyptian history seems to have been pieced together by an ancient Greek fella named Manetho or something who lived several centuries after the end of ancient Egyptian civilization (or, rather, their civilization as ruled by native Egyptians as opposed to Greeks, Romans, Nubians, etc.)

>>18428832>When did all these myths happened?>I don't see any gorgons, centaurs or even Gods running arround. Maybe in africa but not here.>I don't know maybe 500 years ago?>Why was it so long ago that God spoke to the entire tribe of Israel?>Do we really have a magical arc where God lives and makes us win every war?>Then why do we lose all these recent wars?>God does hide his presence more lately.>Since when?>I don't know maybe 500 years ago?
>>18426557Even in, I don't know, 500 bc or 500 ad. Can you really count on the testimony of a couple of individuals that share the same culture and interests?. Theres things we only "know" cause theres one or two sources at most... and since theres nothing that claims otherwise, we just consider it truth. Its all very foucaltean in the way it works, the "truth" is not true, it's just what the institutions that control power-knowledge decide that is true.
