The world has been Anglophone since the 19th century. Mediterranean people are not influential just like Americans and Englishes are in Contemporary age. Meds lose once again.

Arguably the world did not become Anglophone until the diplomatic negotiations after the first world war. The American delegation couldn't speak French (the de-facto language of international relations and trade at the time), so the meetings were held in English, which is what turned English into the worlds Lingua Franca (much to the irritation of the Franks).
