Could they have beat Rome if they had just simply sacrificed more children to Baal Hammon?
>>
>>18430167
Yes, next question.
>>
I dunno, I think child sacrifice probably has diminishing returns.
>>
>>18430167
no. But the psyop they created 200 years later ended up working.

see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity
>>
Impressive that they could manage to sacrifice so many children in a time when 30% of babies died before their first year and another 20% before age 5.
>>
>>18430167
I don't see why not

>>
>>18430506
hola seƱor
>>
>>18430240
No, because it would have been objectively better to raise those children into strong legionaries like Rome did.
And let's not forget how Carthage jewed Hannibal out of much needed support because their 'senate' was a bunch of penny -pinching greedy misers who would have made the Genovese look like the pinnacle of generosity by comparison.
>inb4 they tried
Yeah clearly not hard enough

>God won't reward you for burning all your chilluns
Yeah right. Sounds like a bunch of popsci garbage. I have sworn to destroy my enemies to him so he must hear it and appreciate my sacrifice.

Are you implying he's not there and that I'm just unleashing my curelties on the world like some sick animal? Some retarded, evil ape thing?
>>
>>18430167
Probably. And also if their senate had fully supported Hannibal in Italy with a steady stream of reinforcements, and kept the pressure on Rome in other ways, like attacking other far-flung Roman settlements. And staying on the Numidians' good side. But yes, sacrificing more aristocratic kids is number 1 on that list.
>>

Honestly, if they hadn't killed their Spartan general in the First Punic war, they could have forced a stalemate, and gotten the time necessary to rebuild their fleet. As Romes fleet was gone too after Cape Ecnomus. Lost in a storm tipped over by their boarding ramps.
