Socialist regimes didn't usually throw other socialists in jail desumaybe if they were run by paranoid freaks like Stalin, or if the socialists in question made a real coup attempt ala the left SRs, but the Soviets under Lenin offered Kropotkin, no doctrinaire bolshevik, a cabinet post and a state funeral (he rejected both)There was usually a fair bit of tolerance for left intellectual dissent in the USSR and the later Eastern bloc as long as you didn't go full Trotskyite and weren't a puppet ruler acting too independently. Nothing like the Nazis (or, shamefully, the Stalin-era Soviets) going full purge.
