>30 years of war from 1618 to 1648Based. Let's do it again>22 years of war from 1792 to 1814Based. Let's do it again>31 years of war from 1914 to 1945THIS IS THE WORST THING THAT'S EVER HAPPENED. GOD DOESN'T EXIST. NATIONS DON'T EXIST. BEAUTY DOESN'T EXIST. EVERYTHING IS MEANINGLESS
in the past wars were fought by criminals and the poorest lowest of society, now in a major war like 20% of the population are conscripted
>>18435945A continent full of states seeking to emulate the ancient romans. Wonder why they loved war so much, unlike those peaceful romans
>>18435945You just wait brother >? years of war from 2013 to 20??These people learn nothing
A sharp decline in spirituality had the wars of the 20th century make the world seem vary banal.
People (mainly the French) realized wars were bad for demographics, and didnt like them anymore
>>18435945The 30 years war and Napoleonic wars involved France invading Germany. The World Wars involved Germany invading France.American media is generally being more sympathetic toward France than Germany, so the French perspective matters more than the German perspective
>>18435951Loads of civilians died in the 30 years war>>18436254Before World War I they were all massively religious and then after 4 years apparently nothing mattered anymore
>>18435945back in the middle ages kings fought with knights, who were already high in the hierarchynowadays presidents don’t fight the warthey always send the poor

>>18436454Policy will vary from country to country, it's not a EU thing. I'm Swedish and was born in the mid 90s, military service was not compulsory when I was that age. It is now but not for everyone, they only draft a portion of a yearly cohort and as far as I know it's pretty easy to get out of it if you genuinely don't want to do military service, or they might reject someone based on subpar eyesight or a bad knee at 18, so they have the luxury of being picky with recruits. During wartime citizens have a duty to assist in non-combat roles though, especially if you have relevant skills, i.e if you're a skilled mechanic then you might be drafted to repair other stuff instead of working on forklifts at your local factory.
>>18435945>>22 years of war from 1792 to 1814>Based. Let's do it againEuros did the opposite of this, they had almost a century of relative peace and/or taking a break from fighting each other to conquer other continents.
>>18436949The Greek War of Independence, the Crimean War, the First and Second Schleswig War, the Austro-Prussian War, and the Franco-Prussian War happened within Europe in the 1800s before a break of a few decades was apparently enough to turn everyone soft
>>18437088NapoleonSame with Adolfstein, you are being the next...
