I don't know if this is your first time translating works, mine was with Classical Latin, but you'll find often that the text can be difficult at times to read; moreover, there are interpretations that go against what is considered standard, and so you sometimes have to consider the entire text (which is hard if you haven't read it in the Greek already) in order to make coherent choices about meaning.Another interesting thing is just how Gnostic Paul sounds in Greek. If you ever move onto Romans you'll see what I mean. It's very interesting.
>>18437421The problem with Greek is that its words have a huge semantic range to them and picking which sense fits the best can be difficult to do. I'm sure not everyone will agree with the choices I've made.
>>18437429No, I know. I've studied Koine Greek before and did some translations of the Gospel of John. The problem of hermeneutics, however, is that it is heavily dependent on how you were primed to receive the text. Translate for your own understanding. When you actually deeply read the text and have to translate it you to start to actually grasp the text. In a real way, I mean. You have to pay attention to what they're saying.
