Are you Christian and trying to skirt around the implication that the religion may have actually grown more lax in its practices over time? Not everyone here believes in capital T Tradition with its silly subtle implication that the larger Church can't actually ever fail at its job. It's a human institution that one day might diverge so much from its origin that if you took someone from 80AD to a certain point in the future they would name the orthodox church of that era heretic. That is a real possibility if you look at this historically without theological scruples.
