According to legend today is Rome's 2779th founding day, April 21 753BC or AUC 1 as the Romans would have measured it.

That being said I must ask, what Role did Remus serve in the myth? Most founding mythologies tend to focus on a sole figure, why would Remus share as much spotlight as he's brother until he's killed, when did the legend make him a equal with Romulus?

YOU SEEM TO BE PRESUPPOSING THAT ROMVLVS, AND REMVS, DID NOT EXIST.

YOUR QUESTION IS FALLACIOUS.

Echoes of the divine twins. Just like Hengist and Horsa being the Anglo-Saxon founders.

Hola, cumgenius.

Sometimes I leave /his/ for months. I return and find it new and unwelcoming. Then I see a post from my favorite Mexican, and I feel at home.

why would they be real? it is a fable

This is getting worse;

the Brazilian insect now ruins any thread by spamming and There's an idiot who makes threads every day about his personal obsession with Christianity. It's no wonder the visits have decreased significantly.

>why would they be real?

WHY WOULD THEY NOT HAVE EXISTED?

>it is a fable

PROOF?

ACCORDING TO WHOM?

the story just seems conveniently propogandized to make rome seem special. I don't know how anyone can fall for it. you can like rome without believing this.

In a dream, Romulus and Remus appeared and gave me advice that I ignored, and I messed up after that. I don't know if it's pure fiction; I think they were real people, and I consider them my progenitors, sometimes paying homage to them.

HISTORY BECOMES LEGEND, LEGEND BECOMES MYTH; THAT IS HOW IT IS.

HISTORICAL EVENTS, AND HISTORICAL PERSONS, BLUR IN THE MISTS OF TIME, THEN, MULTIPLE ALTERATIONS ARE MADE FOR POLITICAL REASONS, THEN, EMBELLISHMENTS, FOR POETICAL OR IDEOLOGICAL MOTIVES.
>>
>>18441586
yeah I'm sure that's true but there is just no plausible way that such a city was formed from those brothers. rome was probably started by dozens of people getting together for protection.

>[...] there is just no plausible way that such a city was formed from those brothers. [SIC]

WHY NOT?

>[...] rome was probably started by dozens of people getting together for protection. [SIC]

NOW, THAT IS UNLIKELY.

THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A VILLAGE, AT BEST, WHICH IS WHAT ROMVLVS, AND REMVS, FOUND WHEN THEY ARRIVED AT THE FUTURE ROMAN SITE.

remus and romulus just wouldn't have had the capability without skilled help, and then it isn't really any them anymore
if they were historical figures rome would have still grown the same without them

>remus and romulus just wouldn't have had the capability without skilled help, and then it isn't really any them anymore [SIC]

HOW DOES EMPLOYING SKILLED PERSONS ANNUL THE AUTHORSHIP OF FOUNDATION, ACCORDING TO YOU?

>if they were historical figures rome would have still grown the same without them [SIC]

THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO ROMA WITHOUT ROMVLVS, NOR WITHOUT REMVS.
>>
>>18441602
how doesn't employeeing skilled people make the effort of foundation greater than the employers?
rome is rome regardless of the myths, anyways. it has the same origins as any other city.

YOUR REASON SEEMS TO BE OBNUBILATED BY MARXIAN IDEOLOGY.
>>
>>18441621
I have no idea what u mean
I just don't see why rome has to have this mythic origin when mundane origins have done well for all the other great cities ever

Gods are boys.

No women necessary.

Honestly i always thought historians skepticism on the 7 kings is retarded.
Like the romans believe it, even livy believed at least 6 of them, only questioning Romulus and his family.
They do the same thing with homer claiming he didn't exist, even though bards swore he did, and was a blind poet.
Also the long reigns could make sense, if there wasn't much conflict.

Remus and Romulus are Moses, floating down a river, looking for a tree.
Moses represents the dichotomy of this wilderness.
The idea is that you must make a selection in order to lay the foundation of a great kingdom. Romulus is the wheat, and Remus is the chaff.
