>Something bad happened in the 14th-15th century is a medieval fault>Something good happened in the 14th-15th century is a renaissance advancement
>>18441670Well yeah, the Renaissance represented a clear intellectual and artistic break with what came before, a complete rejection of the medievals and revival of the ancients.
>>18441674>"intellectual" renaissance>decline of bathing after the black death>peak of witch hunts, whereas throughout the medieval period, you were far more likely to be persecuted for accusing someone of witchcraft>emergence of chattel slavery of west africans>still did not revive any of the roman sanitation infrastructurethe only thing the renaissance had going was superior art skills
>>18441679“Golden age” is a bit of a misnomer and poorly understood term. The Renaissance was a period of intellectual and artistic efflorescence. Doesn’t mean it was a good time period to live in.Same thing with the Enlightenment, it was a time of intellectual breakthroughs and developments but most of the ideas that came out of it were never implemented.
>>18441679The 'real' Renaissance started in 1453 with the fall of Constantinople, that lead to previous forgotten classical ideas being rediscovered and paving the way for the Age of Exploration and Scientific Revolution.
Uh, yeah? The Renaissance was confined to only a few wealthy cities, really. It took time for the discoveries and advancements made in those places to disseminate to the rest of Europe, and even longer to the rest of the world. Most of Europe was still very medieval and backward in the 14th and 15th centuries. Hell, basically everything east of the Oder River was medieval until the 19th century.
>>18441689The Enlightenment was also in part driven by the extremely shitty conditions in Europe at the time. Nothing spurs people to try to figure out a "better way" than seeing millions of people perish in wars of religion and increasingly despotic, tyrannical rulers cropping up all over. There's a reason so many Enlightenment thinkers were preoccupied with figuring out how to make a non-tyrannical government. Almost like it was something that had a real impact on their day to day life.
>>18441732>rural places are less developed than le urban places
>>18441780Yes
>>18441780Has always been the placeThe only exception being modern suburbia in the 70s-80s
A bunch of dagos got better at painting and now an entire era of history is named after their delusional sense of self-importance.
>>18441679>Peasants could leave the land and become someone>People could read and write>There were doctors and dentistsA clear improvement on the primitive life of the medieval serf
>>18441670The renaissance is like 80% just Florence anyway.
>>18441929>People could read and writeincluding unqualified people, who led to the death of thousands of women who died upon reading about some german inceldom>There were doctors and dentistshospitals were a thing in the medieval period, in fact, the medieval period is the reason why doctors existedoral health was worse in the modern period than the medieval due to overconsumption of sugar
