We can't guess the motives or incentives of a hypothetical group we know next to nothing about. We don't even know for certain what the most fundamental assumptions we can make about them are.If they have an incentive or motive to attack us (and they think they'll win) they will. If not, they won't. But we have no way of predicting whether or not that would be the case. We don't know their culture, economic conditions, or political situation. We can't even assume with any certainty that their psychology is comparable to ours.Even if we DO assume that, say, they're pragmatic imperialists, they might not think it's worth it to invade a planet for its resources when they can just mine an asteroid or something. Or, maybe they will think it's worth it since we have an existing infrastructure for that purpose. It's impossible to know either way.Or maybe they're glory-seeking imperialists who wish to conquer us for the sake of accomplishment.
