Tell me about 80s biker girls in Japan. How could they afford their hobby? Were they rich girls? Were they professional mechanics and have the time and expertise to repair and modify old bikes? How were they viewed by society? How did they spend their time? Did they tour cross country? Did they race? Did they gather and compare bikes with other bikers? Was it mostly Japanese sports bikes? How often did they do these things? What was a typical weekend like? What was a typical summer and spring break and winter holiday like? Did they have biker boyfriends? Did they want to get married? What ages were typical biker girls when they were very active in their hobby? What music did they listen to? What subculture were they a part of? What did they eat? Was drugs a problem? Were they violent or involved in crime like American bikers? Were they involved with the Yakuza and Yakuza street races? What did they think of drift racing which would become more popular in the 90s? Did they resent the changing times and cultural shift from bikers to drift racing? Or did they not think about changing lives and changing times? Was it all completely ordinary to them? Or did they realize how extraordinary they were?I want to know more about this specific niche in Japan 40 years ago.
>>18448375I mean, didn't most people in Japan ride motorcycles back in the 70s and 80s? Most of them weren't superbikes, they were mostly Honda Cubs. The Honda C105T/Trail 55 was basically Japan's equivalent of the Volkswagen Beatle, a vehicle for the people that everyone had. These things even sold well overseas, but in Japan they were probably particularly popular over cars because of Japans cramped cities and more narrow streets. These were almost certainly the origin of Japan's bike culture, since even the women in your pic probably had them as a gateway drug so-to-speak and it's what most of them first learned to wrench on since they were just so damn simple to work on. I have one of these out back but the start lever is broken so whenever I want to ride the thing I have to run it push it lmao.
>>18448375Okay, I will tell you. They were paid $40 in 1980 Dollars for a photo shoot for an advertisement. No woman has ever ridden a motorcycle. Hope this helps.
>>18448375If you're earnest about this, you might honestly get better answers posting on /o/ or /jp/.
>>18448375they’re just people who ride bikessimple as
see girls riding scooters in south east asia now a days. I bet some of them have some kind of a 'gang' even.
