>le Pope Gregory IX's Vox en Rama ordered the mass killing of cats due to them being linked to witchcraft, which spread the black death across EuropeExcept there's no evidence that occurred. Vox en Rama did not spread anti-cat propaganda. The Catholic Church made a stance that belief in witchcraft was heresy, hence why the Inquisition happened to halt witch hunts during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. And let's assume that he really did say so; the idea that such mass cat killings could've spread the Black Death is very absurd. For starters, cats are not the only predator to rats. And the plague spread via fleas; chances are a cat could've killed the rats and catch the flea and spread the plague anyways. And the Black Death devastated West Asia, which has no connection to Catholicism. Egypt in particular is known for worshipping cats, yet that didn't stop them from being infected by the plague.A lot of this is just typical black legends spread to slander anything medieval or Catholic. And then a bunch of non-Europeans pick these myths up to spread their anti-white agendas. The thing is, not even enlightenment thinkers like Voltaire claimed such thing happened, and they'd claim any opportunity to slander the middle ages.
>>18449133also how come we only focus on how the black death affected europe when it affected much of eurasia?
>>18449133anyways the main reason i brought up this post is because i'm in an online debate with some anti-white poster about thisthey say that european destruction of nature, lack of sanitation and medicine, and hierarchy is why the plague spread throughout europedo they make good points, or can these arguments be refuted?
>>18449146because last time i checked, egypt and china were just as severely affected by the black deathwe only know about european black death due to eurocentrismis that person just making claims to spread anti-white sentiments?
>>18449133Cats are really bad in hunting rats actually. If you want a good rat hunter you need an owl, dog or weasel
>>18449133>The Catholic Church made a stance that belief in witchcraft was heresy, hence why the Inquisition happened to halt witch hunts during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. No it didn't retard. The Catholic church confirmed the existence of witchcraft, and readily involved itself in witch trials. They just believed the trials should be overseen by educated men (usually inquisitors) rather than by random, vindictive, locals. This resulted in a lower, but not non-existant, death toll. There are numerous examples of witch trials in Italy and Spain.
>>18449133Non white countries will never be livable so they have to say how bad it was in Europe 1000 years ago.
why does everyone forget that the Catholic Prince-Bishops did the largest witch hunts in Germany.
>>18449133European peasants always follow suit of their nobility. >The result was often fatal for the tossed animal. Augustus II the Strong, the King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, held a famous tossing contest in Dresden at which 647 foxes, 533 hares, 34 badgers and 21 wildcats were tossed and killed. Augustus himself participated, reportedly demonstrating his strength by holding the end of his sling by just one finger, with two of the strongest men in his court on the other end. Other rulers also participated in the sport. The Swedish envoy Esaias Pufendorf, witnessing a fox-tossing contest held in Vienna in March 1672, noted in his diary his surprise at seeing the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I enthusiastically joining the court dwarfs and boys in clubbing to death the injured animals; he commented that it was remarkable to see the emperor having "small boys and fools as comrades, [which] was to my eyes a little alien from the imperial gravity."
>>18449200these witch trials mainly happened to prove to the locals that witches don't exist
can confirm they taught us in public school that the catholic church killed cats because superstition and that's why the black plague was able to spread easilythis is a specific memory I've retainedbecause cats kill rats and rats spread fleasand fleas were definitely the only significant vector for what they call the "plague" and "black death", and nominally "bubonic"personally, I haven't ruled out literally miasma as a primary causethere's just not enough hard evidence to attribute every single outbreak to a single specific bacterial strainthe plague masks were effective, because they were packed with herbs that served as an air filter and had been soaked in salt waterbut not just on their own, rather being part of a quarantine protocolto my mind, the idea of an airborne contagion would explain much of it's spread and known countermeasuresand, since my public schooling subsequent research has vindicated thisin short, the multi century and international phenomenon is not attributable to fleas alonebut to a mechanism of action less well understood>>18449150no cats who aren't house bound from infancy are killing machinesthey just happen to overwhelmingly destroy native bird populations currently, when allowed to roam naturally
>>18449725my sister feeds the cats so much, they are spoiled, so they never go after mice. she feeds them beef and chicken, i am talking $20/lb beef
>>18449725>because cats kill rats and rats spread fleas>and fleas were definitely the only significant vector for what they call the "plague" and "black death", and nominally "bubonic">personally, I haven't ruled out literally miasma as a primary cause>there's just not enough hard evidence to attribute every single outbreak to a single specific bacterial strain>the plague masks were effective, because they were packed with herbs that served as an air filter and had been soaked in salt water>but not just on their own, rather being part of a quarantine protocol>to my mind, the idea of an airborne contagion would explain much of it's spread and known countermeasures>and, since my public schooling subsequent research has vindicated thisThe plague bacteria Y. Pestis has three presentations, besides the bubonic plague it also causes septicemic and pneumonic plague and my high school history teacher actually pointed that out but everywhere else just hyperfocuses on the bubonic presentation and ignores that the Black Death was like a Plague Inc. run
>>18449725>fleas spread on cats after cats kill the rats
>>18449640Stop making shit up, they executed people for witchcraft retard.
>>18449146>they say that european destruction of nature, lack of sanitation and medicine, and hierarchy is why the plague spread throughout europe
>>18449433the black death happened 300 years before that
