why didn't the allies just go with borders like this for trianon? if they cared about ethnic composition so much that they actually gave land to austria even though austria started the war, wouldn't this slightly larger hungary seem like it was better for everyone?

Were there really that many Germans in Hungary? I know about the Szekely Germans, but I mean Hungary proper. Why did they congregate around the West of Budapest?
