Whats going on with these two?Why does these two exist?Literally no mention of them in the history books.Their identities just kinda 'emerged' out of nowhere in a very small geographical area. There is nothing 'distinct' about them like there is with Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Greece etc. Both of their country names simply just means "land of the slavs", as if there arent already plenty of slavic nations? Please dont give me a fucking chatgpt response. i could have asked that myself and I didnt ask here to get that.
Slovenia is boring as fuck, nothing ever happens the country, Slovakia is cool, love visiting Bratislava
Slovenia had a early medieval northern Principality called Carantania and a southern sister one called Carniola, one or both of these are mentioned in the Divine Comedy and other medieval writings. Not sure about Slovakia, prob also some Slavic principality that got sucked into Hungaristan.
What happens in Slovakia, stays in Slovakia
>>18449222Slovenia is what if Croatia was really into Austria and ItalySlovakia is Hungarian Bohemia
>>18449222I watched this Slovak documentary called Pictures of the Old World, it’s about old people in the Slovakian countryside reminiscing about their youth. There’s a guy who claimed he was 100 years old, had been born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and remembered when queen Victoria I visited the country (docu came out in 1972 meaning he would have been born in 1872).Fascinating watch.
>>18449222Slovenes and Czechs are German Slavs, Croats and Slovaks are Hungarian Slavs. There's more to it than that, but this is the gist of it.
>>18449222They’re two utterly unremarkable people who happened to luck out and be part of great and glorious nations like the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia.
>>18449222Slovenia is just South slav balkanoids historically under dominion of AustriansSlovakia the slavoids under dominion of Hungary. Both fabrications in pursuit of the destruction and permanent dissolution of Austria-Hungary or any future power that could re-emerge in the area.Balkanization and the invention of new identities is how you truly destroy a civilization. Im surprised it didn't happen to Germany following ww1. We'd have a Rhenish and Westphalian state claiming independence since time immemorial
